Lesson Archaeology

On Friday, June 23, 2023 in Classroom 1 of the Funaioli Mazzi Complex (Servants’ Great Hall), a morning devoted entirely to new systems of dissemination of History and Archaeology is scheduled in the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage Sciences.

  • At 9:30 a.m. a lecture by Prof. Erik Champion (University of South Australia) entitled, “Can We Game History, Should We?”
  • At 11:30 a.m. a preview test of a VR lecture for archaeology, a project in collaboration with UNISI’s Santa Chiara LabVR and directed by Prof. Alessandro Innocenti (Department of Social, Political and Cognitive Sciences), funded on the EL-VR project and coordinated by the Research, Libraries, Internationalization and Third Mission Area of the University of Siena.

The morning, titled “The Past as a Digital Playground Archaeology, VIrtual Reality and Video Games,” is intended to be a continuation of the CAPI project (Accessible Hill of Poggio Imperiale), a project presented by the Municipality of Poggibonsi, under the scientific direction of the University of Siena (Prof. Valenti Marco), co-financed by the University itself, the Region of Tuscany through the European Social Fund 2014-2020, the Monte Dei Paschi Di Siena Foundation, Archeòtipo S.R.L. and Entertainment Game Apps Ltd, which aims at the digital and virtual enhancement of the monumental, archaeological and museum complex of Poggio Imperiale in Poggibonsi (SI)
